About Visual Localize

What is Visual Localize?
Visual Localize is a professional tool for translating software and adapting the graphical user interface (GUI). Visual Localize is not a tool for automatic translation. Visual Localize as a computer aided translation (CAT) tool will help your translator to pretranslate already known phrases. In addition to this Visual Localize will help to prevent typical errors (e.g. truncated texts, non-unique usage of accelerators, ...) during translation. Another great benefit: Visual Localize displays all dialogs and menus with all control elements (What you see is what youget editor) so that your translator will also see the translation context. Visual Localize enables translators to translate software applications (comprising various modules such as EXE, DLL, OCX, XML, CHM, INI, etc.) extremely easily into any language without any programming skills. Visual Localize is easy to use and can therefore be deployed very quickly.

Visual Localize is one of the market-leading software localization tools and offers benefits to translatorsmachine and plant engineerssoftware developers and manufacturers.
Visual Localize accelerates the globalization of your software considerably, saving time and costs.

5 steps to a localized software version

Using Visual Localize makes your localization process a lot faster and more efficient. Just follow the 5 steps described below:

  1. Create a new localization project: A setup wizard will guide you through the project setup. Simply select the software modules (e.g. *.exe, *.dll, *.ocx, *.chm, *.resource, *.resX, etc...) which need to be localized and select your project settings, i.e. source and target language, font type, font style and - for Unicode languages such as Chinese or Russian - font script. Visual Localize supports all languages which are supported by your operating system.
  2. Automated pre-translation: Import the Visual Localize dictionary from a translated project. You can also use text lists, Excel files or pairs of applications which exist in the required languages for pre-translation. Please see the tutorial "How to import applications phrases".
  3. Translation: The translator of your choice works with Visual Localize. The translation for dialogs and menues is done in the context of the preview (WYSIWYG editor). The translator can also export and import TMX files to and from Translation Memory tools.
  4. Adaptation of the graphical user interface (GUI): After the translation is done, Visual Localize can check the application with an automated check function for errors such as text which does not fit into the controls, overlapping controls or double assigned accelerators.
  5. Creation of target file(s): You can create localized target files at the push of a button. Localized satellite assemblies are also possible if the source application is a .NET application.

How do I handle an update of the source application?

As soon as the new version of your source application is built, you can translate it in Visual Localize. Just load the new modules into the translated project of the previous version by using the "Reload" function in the "Edit" menu. All existing translations and the adaptation of the GUI are kept. Only new text or changes need to be translated.

In this way your localization efforts for updates are reduced by up to 90%.
The investment is worthwhile from the first update of the source application.
