The find dialog can be used to find special phrases within your localization project or dictionary which meet certain options predefined by the user .
From the Edit menu please select the menu item Find... or click on the find icon from the standard toolbar. The following dialog appears:
Check on these check boxes within the Search in group, which resource types shall be considered during your search:
Source: The search functionality will only search in the source phrases from your project.
Target: The search functionality will only search in the target phrases from your project.
Dialog, Menu, String table, Massage table, Version info, XML and Database Table can only be checked on when a program module (e.g. EXE, DLL, OCX, ...) was selected in the Project window .
Within the dictionary these check boxes are deactivated (and cannot be used).
Enter the phrase or word you are searching for into the combo box Find what:.
Your entry is automatically saved within the combo box for later usage. You can search for any combo box entry by simply clicking the arrow on the right side of the box. All entries are displayed. You just have to click the desired phrase you are searching for.
Optional setting: Define the condition of your search string:
Ignore punctuation: To find expressions which contain an accelerator within the search string e.g. "C&ancel"
Case sensitive: To consider upper and lower characters in the search sting e.g. "cancel" or "Cancel"
Whole words only: To search only for whole words. If the search phrase is e.g. "can", Visual Localize will not find the word "cancel"
Optional setting: Set Flags:
The flags checkboxes of the find dialog are 3-state-checkboxes, i.e. there are three possibilities of how to check a flag:
Neutral: Searches for phrases without taking the flag into account.
Checked on: Searches only for the phrases where the corresponding flag is set.
Unchecked: Searches only for the phrases where the flag is reset.
Define your search Direction (Backwards or Forwards). Reference point for the Direction will be this entry which was selected and marked with yellow background color before the search functionality is started.
Optional setting: Activate the Fuzzy-Search to find similar words or expressions.
|
Via the Fuzzy-Search you can find similar words or expressions very easily to increase the terminological consistency during translation. For example: If the Fuzzy-Search is turned on and you are searching for the phrase "back boor", Visual Localize will also find the expressions "back-door", "Backdoor", "bak door" (spelling mistake). |
